This is an additional film to the Community Cinema’s 11th Season. This film is free although the audience will be invited to give a voluntary contribution towards STEPS. St Andrew’s University gives out two bursaries a year to Palestinian post-graduates to study free. STEPS is a voluntary organisation that supports the Palestinian students, helping them meet living expenses and the cost of accommodation. The film will be preceded by a brief talk by two of the students. Traditional Palestinian snacks will be available.
Abu Shadi is a divorced father in his mid-60s living in Nazareth. His daughter is about to get married. Shadi, his estranged architect son, arrives from Rome to help his father to hand-deliver the wedding invitations to each guest. As the estranged pair spend the day together, the tense details of their relationship come to a head challenging their fragile and very different lives.
