The three men have to adjust to their new world and overcome their emotional baggage, the past that haunts them and the loss of their sister. Employment counsellor Carrie Davis (Witherspoon) is appointed to their case. With troubles of her own the four embark on a journey of mutual understanding and discovery.

Into their lives comes the young man Rashid. He acts as a catalyst helping Benjamin face up to his loss as they in turn help Rashid confront reality. Scripted by the novelist Paul Auster this indie classic is a tale of humanity and compassion.

Gloria Grahame was one of the great Hollywood movie stars of the 40s and 50s. By the late 70s her star had fallen and she was reduced to repertory in London and staying in ‘digs.’ There she meets Peter Turner a much younger actor, and they fall in love. The film is based on Turner’s memoir of the affair and Annette Benning gives one of her great performances as the fragile yet feisty Graham and in Jamie Bell as Turner we see a star in the making.

But with success comes fame and a cost not only on Milne but on Billy, the books’ Christopher Robin, who cannot shake loose of his literary alterego.

May 25th The Death of Stalin

Armando Iannucci (Inthe Loop / The Thickof It) turns his hilarious satiric gaze on to the death of Stalin, one of the 20th Century’s political monsters. He satirizes the effect this has after Stalin’s death, the jockeying for power becomes a farce of surreal proportions where white becomes black and where black becomes well probably red. The film boasts a stellar cast who evidently love acting in this theatre of the absurd.

  • On March 23rd we celebrate ten years of films in Colinsburgh with our 170th screening ‘Lucky Logan’. It stars Daniel Craig who also starred in our first ever screening ‘Casino Royale’ on the 27th of March 2008. We would like to thank all our members who have supported us through the years.
