***** CANCELLED *****
Sadly due to the risk of infection posed by the Omicron virus, Colinsburgh Community Cinema is cancelling their screening of ‘Little Women’ on December the 28th. Audiences have been low, undoubtedly due to an understandable worry over the pandemic and the new variant. We plan to keep the cinema closed for the time being. We will review the situation in late February. Please check the cinema website for any new developments.
Dec 28th (Tues) “Little Women” 7.30
USA|2019|Dir: Greta Gerwig
Cert: PG|129mins|Genre: Historical Drama
Cast: Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Laura Dern
This interpretation of the novel by director Greta Gerwig is as outstanding as the cast. She evades the pitfalls of sentimentality. Gerwig has crafted a ‘Little Women’ that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott. As the film unfolds the author’s alter ego, Jo March, (Saoirse Ronan), reflects back and forth on her life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters – four young women each determined to live life on their own terms – is both timeless and timely.
FACE MASKS: Due to the rising level of covid infections and the generally fluid nature of the pandemic as winter closes in, the committee has made a decision that we are going to ask the audience to wear face masks during the screenings, the guidance as stated on our brochure.
We will review our position in the New Year.
